El 16 de febrero el etnomusicólogo Luis Fernandez nos habló en La Corrala de los Enawenê-Nawê, grupo indígena que vive en el Mato Grosso, cuyos miembros fueron calificados como “los benedictinos de la selva” por el antropólogo Bartomeu Melià.
Nos hizo una introducción sobre la situación geográfica de este grupo, que permaneció aislado hasta 1974, en que grupos de “bandeirantes” los encontraron, pero escaparon y permanecieron alejados aunque visitados por los jesuitas, quienes intentaron dar prioridad al mantenimiento de la salud y su lengua y costumbres, no dejando entrar a ninguna persona del exterior.
Son un grupo del pueblo Pareci y de la familia lingüista Aruak. Ellos se autodenominan: “Nosotros, la gente verdadera”. Luis Fernandez comentó la oportunidad de seguir el gran ritual “Yaunkw”, de seis meses de duración. El grupo se divide entre los que van a pescar y los que se quedan, con un ceremonial distinto durante la noche, con los adultos danzando al son de las flautas, cantando de forma organizada aunque pueda parecer una cacofonía. Los cantos agradecen a los espíritus lo recogido. Tuvimos la oportunidad de escuchar la grabación de esos sonidos y vimos algunas imágenes representativas de la vida diaria. Al final del ritual son las mujeres las que preparan y plantan la yuca y el maíz en el huerto.
Para finalizar explicó la presión de los terratenientes y multinacionales con algunas anécdotas en cuanto a las demarcaciones oficiales y la importancia de evitar la entrada de intrusos. Se hicieron varias preguntas sobre el ritual, el viaje, los motivos,las dificultades…
